The University of Regina and First Nations University of Canada will host a screening and public dialogue about the award winning documentary Miss Representation on Tues., Oct. 16.

Miss Representation is a film created by Jennifer Siebel Newsom that explores how media’s depiction of women has contributed to their underrepresentation in positions of power and influence in society.

The event will feature hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser, a University of Regina honorary degree holder and Olympic medalist. She earned a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and Olympic gold medals in 2002, 2006, and at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.  At the event Wickenheiser will facilitate a discussion about women’s leadership in politics, business, and sport.

Local business Hillberg & Burke will also be on hand to discuss an exciting new scholarship for young women.
