More than 30 students from northern Saskatchewan toured the University of Regina campus May 6. The high school students from Buffalo Narrows, Cumberland House, Montreal Lake, Stanley Mission, Pinehouse Lake and La Ronge are in Regina as part of the 2013 Youth Mentorship Program.

Last month, President, Vianne Timmons, along with the Deans of the Faculties of Arts, Education, and Social Work, as well as the Executive Lead of Indigenization, visited three northern communities as part of the President's Northern Tour. The annual tour provided opportunities for University of Regina leaders to listen and learn about First Nations and Métis needs from school administrators, students and community leaders in Pinehouse, La Ronge, and Cumberland House.

One of the goals in the University's strategic plan, mâmawohkamâtowin: Our Work, Our People, Our Communities, is to build relationships with First Nations communities. It also strives to respond to the needs and aspirations of its First Nations and Métis students.
