My name is Scott Clark, and I am in my second year in the Faculty of Arts, originally from London, Ontario. I am studying Human Justice with a concentration in Social Justice, and a minor in Political Science.

I always knew that I wanted to attend university, but was unsure of where I wanted to attend and what exactly I wanted to study. Once I toured and looked into the University of Regina, I knew that it was the right program at the right school for me. The school has a strong community atmosphere, with welcoming students and professors; and provides ample opportunities for students to succeed and get involved. After graduation, I plan on returning to school for another degree (either a law degree or a masters degree).

I joined the UR Guarantee Program at the very start of my first year in university. I joined mostly because I saw the immense benefits of the program, with no drawbacks. I felt that the program would allow me to develop the skills necessary to achieve my goals (educational, work related, and others) through the seminars and activities. I have really enjoyed my time with the UR Guarantee Program, and recommend it to all students to join. It is not only a great way to become more employable in the future, but is also a great way to get involved now. Plus, the program and advisors are extremely helpful in achieving your personal goals throughout your time at the school.

Because of the UR Guarantee Program, I have become more involved on campus and in the community. I am a member of the Justice Studies Student Society, a Senior Ambassador, a part-time employee at the RCMP, and have volunteered at several community organizations/institutions. The leadership electives are a great way to develop interpersonal skills, while the academic electives help with becoming more successful in school. Additional activities encourage students to meet new people, and develop networks that can be beneficial down the road, as well as currently.

My advice for future students would be to join the UR Guarantee Program and other groups/clubs around campus (which can count towards your URG Program!). It’s a great way to get involved, meet new people with similar interests, stay on top of your studies, and develop the skills that you will need in the future. If it weren’t for the UR Guarantee Program, I definitely wouldn’t be the student I am today.
