30th annual spring convocation honours 1,601
Degrees, diplomas and certificates will be presented to 1,601 recipients at the 30th annual University of Regina spring convocation June 7-9 at the Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts. The ceremonies begin at 2 p.m. each day. 

The ceremonies will also feature the presentation of four honorary degrees. 

In a special convocation ceremony on June 6 at the University Theatre in the Riddell Centre, the Princess Royal (Princess Anne) will receive a doctor of laws in recognition of her charitable work. 

The following individuals will receive honorary degrees at ceremonies at the Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts: George Logan, an eminent Renaissance scholar and professor of English, will receive a doctor of laws on June 7; Lorna Crozier, one of Canada's pre-eminent poets, will receive a doctor of laws on June 8; Raymond Marcotte, a champion of French language and culture and a faithful member of the co-operative movement will receive a doctor of laws on June 9.

Degrees, certificates and diplomas from the faculties of graduate studies and research, administration, engineering, and kinesiology and health studies will be presented Monday, June 7. Degrees, certificates and diplomas from the faculties of arts, fine arts and science will be presented Tuesday, June 8. Degrees, certificates and diplomas from the faculties of education, social work and continuing education will be presented Wednesday, June 9. 

The number of graduates from each faculty is: 
· Administration 220; 
· Arts 305; 
· Continuing Education 185; 
· Education 282; 
· Engineering 85; 
· Fine Arts 79; 
· Graduate Studies and Research 119; 
· Kinesiology and Health Studies 26; 
· Science 145; and, 
· Social Work 155. 

There are 1,069 women receiving degrees, diplomas and certificates and 532 men. Students from 17 countries outside Canada will be presented with degrees, diplomas or certificates. The countries include Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Libya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, People's Republic of China, Scotland, South Korea, Tanzania, Ukraine and United States

About 45,000 students have been honoured at convocations since the University of Regina became an independent institution in 1974.
