Leela Gilday in concert
Leela Gilday, Juno nominee and three-time Canadian Aboriginal Music Award Winner, will perform on Thursday, May 12 at the Exchange Club, 2431 8th Avenue, at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is presented by the First Nations University of Canada Department of Indian Fine Arts and the University of Regina Faculty of Fine Arts, along with the Regina Folk Festival.

Born and raised in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Gilday is a First Nations singer from the Dene Nation who graduated with a bachelor of music in vocal performance from the University of Alberta. Her songwriting reflects her northern roots, explores her identity as a modern urban Indian, and gives voice to her perspective on love and life. Gilday's music draws on influences from Canadian folk, blues and jazz, and incorporates traditional Native elements.

Gilday has been recognized at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards as Best Female Artist and Best Songwriter, and her CD, spirit world, solid wood, was recognized as Best Folk Album. She has performed across the country, appeared on CBC television and radio specials, and has been featured on several programs on the Aboriginal People's Television Network (APTN).
