U of R hosts 20th National Student Film Festival
The Regina Film and Video Students Society is hosting the 20th annual National Student Film Festival from May 3-6 at the main theatre of the Dr. William Riddell Centre, University of Regina. All screenings are free of charge.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Roy Cross, a U of R alumnus currently on faculty at Concordia University, will be the special guest juror. Cross was instrumental in establishing the festival in 1987. This year’s festival will open with a screening of local filmmaker and U of R alumnus Robin Schlaht’s 2001 film, “Solitude” on May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Regina Public Library film theatre. Student film screenings will take place on May 4 and 5 starting at 7 p.m. in the main theatre in the Dr. William Riddell Centre. The festival will close on May 6 with a gala awards night and a 20-year retrospective of student films at the U of R.

The National Student Film Festival supports and showcases exceptional student film and video work from across Canada. It is the longest running student film festival in Canada and the only one run entirely by students for students. Each year, there are more than 200 entries from across the country in every genre from animation, documentary, comedy, drama and experimental on both film and video formats.
