U of R professors commemorate Vimy Ridge anniversary
The Canadian Corps captured Vimy Ridge on Easter Monday, April 9, 1917. Tonight, the 90th anniversary of the battle, two historians will be examining the significance of this pivotal event in the evolution of Canada as a nation.

Dr. Ian Germani, chair of the Department of History at the U of R will address the “Military Significance of Vimy Ridge,” and Dr. James M. Pitsula, Department of History faculty member will address the “Cultural Significance of Vimy Ridge.”

The event will take place Monday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Language Institute Theatre, room 215. The short presentations will be followed by a question period and a reception.
