Canadian Plains Research Center launches its newest publication
The Canadian Plains Research Center (CPRC) at the University of Regina is launching its latest publication, Paper Cows and More Saskatchewan Crime Stories by Barb Pacholik and Jana Pruden as part of its next fundraising initiative for the CanWest Raise-A-Reader campaign.

For the past two years, the University of Regina has partnered with the Regina Leader-Post and the Saskatoon Star Phoenix in support of the Canwest Raise-A-Reader campaign.  Partial sales from past CPRC publications include Our Towns: Saskatchewan Communities from Abbey to Zenon Park, by author David McLennan, and Sour Milk and Other Saskatchewan Crime Stories, by this year's authors Barb Pacholik and Jana Pruden.

"This is our third year contributing to the Raise-A-Reader campaign," says Brian Mlazgar, Publications Manager at the CPRC.  "I am pleased that we are launching Paper Cows and More Saskatchewan Crime Stories at our book launch.  Barb Pacholik and Jana Pruden's collection of Saskatchewan true crime stories uncovers a number of little-known or long-forgotten tales from Saskatchewan's history which readers will find the book to be a page-turner."

The book launch will take place on Wednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda, Terrace Building, located at 10 Research Drive at the University of Regina.  Parking is available in lot "B".

The CPRC is the longest-serving research institute at the University of Regina, with a broad mandate to improve understanding and appreciation of the Canadian Plains region, its people, and its resources.

In recent years, many books published by the CPRC Press have been honoured with Saskatchewan Book Awards for Publishing, including Building for the Future: A Photo Journal of Saskatchewan's Legislative Building and the Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan, the largest publishing project in Saskatchewan history.

For more information about the book launch, please contact Lorraine Nelson, CPRC, at (306) 585-4758 or email, lorraine.nelson@uregina.ca.
