University of Regina part of global film premiere

A new documentary film about climate change, called The Age of Stupid, is making its world debut this week at more than 700 locations in more than 50 countries - and in Regina, the Faculty of Science at the University of Regina is sponsoring the screening as part of this huge global premiere.

The Age of Stupid will be shown Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. in room 119, the Lecture Theatre, in the Research and Innovation Centre, the new building located between the Laboratory Building and College West at the University of Regina.

The Age of Stupid is a documentary-drama-animation film about an old man living in the devastated world of 2055. As he views archival footage from 2008 he asks: "Why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?"

There is no admission to the 89-minute film directed by Franny Armstrong and produced by John Battsek.

Dr. Mark Brigham, head of the Departments of Biology and Geology at the U of R, will speak briefly about climate research at the University before the film is shown.

Regina Transit serves the U of R on routes 3 and 4. Free parking is available in the "M" areas of Lot 15, in the south-west corner of the campus.

For more information contact Brigham at his office at 306-585-4255 or 306-585-4663 or by email at mark.brigham@uregina.ca or Dr. Daryl Hepting, Associate Professor, Computer Science Department, 306-585-5210 or by email at dhh@cs.uregina.ca.
