New ideas to spur planning for College Ave. campus

As part of its long term planning process, the University of Regina is seeking partners for its proposed College Avenue campus redevelopment initiative. Redevelopment of the College Ave. campus is just one of the considerations of the University's Campus Master Plan. The plan, once developed, will provide a vision for future development to respond to the needs of students, faculty, staff and the community at large.

Today marks the release of a Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) to seek interest and identify potential partners with innovative redevelopment proposals to improve the campus' status as a hub for university-based, community-focused activity. Respondents will present proposals about the future of the College Ave. campus. They may include proposed plans for commercial, professional, cultural as well as residential spaces.

The general public's input into proposed redevelopment is important to the University. Formal opportunities for public input are part of the Campus Master Planning exercise. For more information, visit the Campus Master Plan website at: www.uregina.ca/physplnt/masterplan.

Completed in 1912 as residential high school, the historic Regina College Building has housed the Regina Conservatory of Music, College of Fine Arts and MacKenzie Art Gallery. In 1940, the Royal Canadian Air Force took over the Regina College buildings and grounds for its training program. Today, the campus houses the Centre for Continuing Education and the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.
