Rawlco Radio Ltd donates $30,000 to Aboriginal Graduate Scholarship in Business at the Kenneth Levene School of Business at the University of Regina

The University of Regina is pleased to announce that Rawlco Radio Ltd. has donated $30,000 to the University to establish a new scholarship for First Nations or Métis students pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.

The Rawlco Aboriginal Graduate Scholarship in Business will be awarded in three annual installments of $10,000 each, beginning in fall 2010. The scholarship will be awarded to a self-declared Aboriginal student enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at the Kenneth Levene Graduate School of Business University of Regina.

"Through its generous scholarship donation," said University of Regina President Vianne Timmons, "Rawlco Radio is encouraging Aboriginal students to seek post-secondary education in business, expanding the skills and experience they will be able to apply in many different fields, while also serving as role models for other Aboriginal people."

Rawlco Radio President Pam Leyland said the establishment of the graduate scholarship is just one more indication of Rawlco Radio owner Gordon Rawlinson's ongoing support for Aboriginal education in business, in Saskatchewan.

"We believe it is important to support Aboriginal students who will assume leadership roles in Saskatchewan's business community," Leyland said. "This scholarship is one way Rawlco Radio can help First Nations or Métis students achieve their goals and expand their career opportunities, while also contributing to Saskatchewan's evolving economy."

Rawlco Radio is one of Canada's most successful broadcasting companies, with 15 radio stations in Saskatchewan and Alberta. The company operates three stations (980 CJME, Z99 FM and Jack FM) in Regina.

The first scholarship recipient will be announced by the end of October 2010.
