The Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO) has selected University of Regina Vice-President (Administration) Dave Button to be the organization’s next president. Button has served CAUBO in a number of roles, including as vice-president and secretary/treasurer, since 2008.

CAUBO is a non-profit professional organization representing the interests of administrative and financial officers in Canadian universities and affiliated colleges. The organization works to promote and support professional management of and effective leadership in the administrative affairs of Canadian universities and colleges.

“The leadership Vice-President Button provides at the University of Regina is exemplary, and he continues to dedicate a great deal of effort to serving his colleagues at universities right across the country,” said University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vianne Timmons. “Given his expertise and strong commitment to post-secondary education, it is not surprising that he has been selected president of CAUBO, and I am confident that his term as president will be a productive one for the organization.”

Born in Middleton, Nova Scotia, Button had a 22-year career as a Military Engineer, providing planning and infrastructure services for the Department of National Defence. As a result of his considerable military experience, he has lived in or worked in nearly every Canadian province, as well as a number of places in Europe. He joined the University of Regina in 1995 as Associate Vice-President (Facilities and Planning), and has been Vice-President (Administration) since 2006.

CAUBO, which Button will serve as president for the next year, has more than 4,000 individual members at 107 universities and federated colleges and 37 community colleges and other educational institutions. It also has 65 corporate members and 16 associate members.
