More than 600 students from 11 other universities across western Canada called Regina home this weekend, as the University of Regina hosted the 2014 JDC West business competition. When the dust cleared, the Paul J. Hill School of Business team, representing the U of R, captured the coveted School of the Year title. The U of R also earned the same title in 2012.

University of Regina teams placed first in Human Resources, and first in Management Information Systems (MIS), second in Business Strategy and Marketing, and third in Entrepreneurship and Debate. The Hill team also won Academic School of the Year for the first time.

JDC West celebrates academic excellence and team synergy by providing opportunities for business students in western Canada to achieve excellence in academics, social responsibility, and social competitions. JDC West is the largest business case competition that is organized by and for business students in Western Canada.

“The excellent showing by our students is a sign of how strong the business program truly is at this institution, and I want to thank our students for representing the University of Regina so well over the past few days,” said University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vianne Timmons. “I would like to thank Andrew Gaudes, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, as well as all of the other organizers who helped make this year’s competition such a resounding success.”

Next year’s competition will be held in Victoria.
