The University of Regina Bookstore is up for an award in the 2014 Libris Awards Campus Bookstore category as announced by the Retail Council of Canada.

The Libris Awards provide the only opportunity for professionals in every segment of the book industry to unite and celebrate their successes. Authors, publishers, editors, sales representatives, and booksellers, are recognized for their crucial role in connecting Canadian readers with quality books.

“We are pleased and delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for this award,” says Rayola Anderson, manager of the University of Regina Bookstore. “To be recognized for the service we provide is truly an honour.”

The Bookstore carries academic texts and a wide variety of books and merchandise. Anderson adds that the Bookstore staff strives to create a positive shopping experience for students and the University community.

A major seller at the University of Regina Bookstore is University of Regina professor James Daschuk, Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies, who was also shortlisted for a Libris Award for his non-fiction book, Clearing the Plains: Disease, Politics of Starvation, and the Loss of Aboriginal Life (University of Regina Press).

The 2014 Libris Awards shortlist includes nominees from across the country. Nominees and winners are selected by members of the Canadian Book industry. Winners will be announced in early June.
