It has been a busy year for the University of Regina Enactus group. Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings academics, students and business leaders together who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better world - economically, socially and environmentally.

Enactus student leaders create and develop community empowerment projects around the world The University of Regina Enactus group – Enactus Regina - is located in the Hill School of Business but is open to undergraduate students from all faculties and programs.

The most recent project Enactus Regina is engaged in is the Based in Business initiative that is coming up August 17 to 23. Based in Business teaches business skills to men and women who are leaving the Canadian Forces and plan to start their own entrepreneurial venture. It gives participants access to expert advice from faculty members of the Paul J. Hill School of Business as well as one-on-one student mentoring. Enactus Regina is partnering with Enactus Memorial, Prince's Charity, and Futurpreneur Canada to host the program.

Earlier in the year Enactus Regina ran a Tax Solutions project, which helped students and community members save money and learn the basics of their personal taxes. The group processed 158 income tax returns for free under the leadership of Randy Linton, an accounting lecturer in the Faculty of Business Administration and 15 third and fourth year accounting students.

Enactus Regina also participated in the Regional Enactus competition in Calgary at the end of February. The team, including team members: Shahzadi Sayyid, Amber Rittaler, Gurinder Gill, and Brianna Lobb, were the second runners-up for the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge.
Team member Shahzadi Sayyid also won “HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow”, an award that recognizes a female Enactus student who inspires their peers, community and country through entrepreneurial leadership.

Enactus Regina also travelled to Calgary for Nationals at the end of April, an annual event that welcomed more than 1,200 university students from 59 academic institutions. The three-day event allowed students to showcase projects benefited their communities. This year Enactus Regina competed in the semi-final round and became one of the top 16 universities in the competition.
