The University of Regina’s wireless network will have faster connections for users thanks to SaskTel.  The phone utility is now offering its customers unlimited access to its Wi-Fi network at no additional cost or usage on campus.

The service is expected to enhance service to SaskTel subscribers as well as those who rely solely on the University’s network.

“This change in the University Wi-Fi service will provide SaskTel customers improved network performance by avoiding use of the University’s congested internet connection,” says Art Exner, Director of Communications and Infrastructure for Information Services at the University of Regina. “Of course, having fewer devices using the University internet connection improves service for everyone else, so in that respect we all win.”

Currently, SaskTel is expanding its Wi-Fi ‘Select’ network to various other public and private spaces including Regina’s Victoria Park and Mosaic Stadium.

"Students use their mobile devices more than ever at University. By enhancing their service in this way, Sasktel is also enhancing students' educational experience,” says Devon Peters, President of the University of Regina Students’ Union.
