The Muslim Students Association is holding its third annual Islam Awareness Week at the University of Regina beginning Jan 26.

“This event tries to dispel many of the myths and misconceptions surrounding Islam,” says Amir Aboguddah, a third year Political Science student.

The Muslim Students Association has been a fixture at the University of Regina for approximately 20 years.

“Muslim students feel welcome here. They feel their culture is valued. They will sometimes feel they are in the spotlight because of international events, but usually Canadians are strong and will accept people for who they are,” says Aboguddah.

The week of events includes lectures by world-renowned speakers who will be made available to answer common questions surrounding Islam. The presentations take place at the Research and Innovation Centre and are open to the public.
