The Sun Life Financial Psychology Training Clinic at the University of Regina is offering a one-day Well-being Workshop that is open to the public.
The workshop will introduce cognitive behavioural strategies for managing stress and anxiety as well as improving overall well-being. Topics such as: getting to the root of your anxiety; developing a balanced outlook on life; and effective self-care techniques and strategies will be learned through information sessions, demonstrations, group activities, and take-home resources.
“Attending an anxiety workshop is a great opportunity to connect with people in your community and see that you are not alone in your stress,” says Samantha Horswill, one of the three senior Ph.D. students in Clinical Psychology who is providing care under the close supervision of a highly trained, registered doctoral psychologist - Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos. The other two Ph.D. students are Clair Barefoot and Kim Zorn.
Although the Sun Life Financial Psychology Training Clinic has run workshops like this in the past, Horswill says that this “will be our first time offering the same information in a one-day workshop format. We are looking forward to the workshops and hope to run them again in the future”.
The fee for the workshop is $40 and takes place March 7. For more information or to register call (306) 585-5685 (ext. 1) or email: psychologytrainingclinic@gmail.com.
This event for faculty, staff, students and the general public demonstrates two of the University of Regina’s three Strategic Priorities – Student Success and Commitment to Our Communities, as outlined in the new strategic plan, http://www.uregina.ca/strategic-plan/.
