Temporary closure of Darke Hall for renovations

Public Service Announcement Release Date: April 12, 2016 3:30 p.m.

Construction is set to begin on the exterior of Darke Hall on May 16, 2016, which will result in the closure of the building until November 2016.

This phase of construction will repair exterior components of Darke Hall, which includes some slate tile roof replacement, front façade brick and stone repair, window refurbishment, front step rebuilding and hand rail placement. Accessibility will be addressed in a later project.

The required repair work on the exterior of Darke Hall was announced on September 8, 2015, and was made possible by the generous support of donors who contributed to the College Avenue Campus Renewal Project. The $3 million cost of the project is being fully funded through donations received through the fundraising campaign.

The College Avenue Campus Renewal Project, which was announced in 2011, is the University’s priority capital fundraising project and has raised more than $7 million toward the $10 million goal.
