President and CEO of Cineplex Entertainment to speak at 43rd annual Hill Business Dinner

News Release Release Date: November 1, 2016 11:00 a.m.

The 43rd annual Hill Business Dinner takes place tonight at the Conexus Arts Centre. Hosted by Paul J. Hill and the Business Students’ Society from the Hill School of Business, this event allows students and members of the business community the opportunity to network in a relaxed, personal atmosphere.

This year’s keynote speaker is Ellis Jacob, President and CEO of Cineplex Entertainment. He will be sharing his personal story from his years with the Cineplex Entertainment and some of the innovations he has helped to introduce at the company. His more than 28 years of leadership experience in the motion picture exhibition industry has transformed the movie-going experience for Canadians. Jacob has helped Cineplex become one of Canada’s leading entertainment companies, now with 165 theatres and 1,683 screens from coast to coast, serving approximately 77 million guests annually.

The evening provides the opportunity for the business community of today to connect with the business community of tomorrow. Each table hosts four students and four business people. Seventy-seven per cent of Hill School of Business undergraduates are already employed upon graduation. Competition to hire the best and brightest is stiff, and the Hill Business Dinner helps to facilitate an opportunity for connections between employers and employees.

“Our mandate at the Hill Business Students’ Society is to engage, enrich and excite,” said Cyrena Lockert, Hill Business Students’ Society President. “Nothing demonstrates this more than the annual Hill Business Dinner. This evening engages 600 attendees. Students see their experience at the Hill School of Business enriched at this event, since it gives them the opportunity to make connections that may last a lifetime. Finally, the evening excites, as students and business community representatives are treated to some of the best food, company and entertainment Regina has to offer.”

The Hill Business Students’ Society (BSS) represents the students of the Paul J. Hill School of Business at the University of Regina. The BSS Executive and Council of over 40 student volunteers organize and facilitate value-adding events and activities for over 1,600 students. BSS believes in practicing ethical business values while being leaders and role models in the faculty and community. BSS provides opportunities for students to practice their networking skills, interact with business community members and teach students to find a balance between work and play in their everyday lives.
