You still have time to nominate somebody for the Alumni Crowning Achievement Awards, one of the highest honours that can be bestowed on U of R alumni.

The deadline to submit a nomination for the prestigious award is March 15.

“We’ve had excellent nominations so far,” says Diane Mullan, Acting Head of Alumni Relations. “We just want to remind people that the deadline is fast approaching.”

There are five categories in which you can submit the nomination; Lifetime Achievement, Distinguished Professional Achievement, Distinguished Humanitarian & Community Service, Ferguson Award for Outstanding Service and Outstanding Young Alumni.

“If people are unsure as to which category to submit a name to then we encourage people to contact our office and we can guide them through the process,” says Mullan.

The applications will be reviewed by a nomination committee in April. The Alumni Crowning Achievement Awards culminate with a dinner in the fall of 2016.

The Award is a big honour for Cherish Jean-Baptiste who received the 2015 Outstanding Young Alumni award.

“It’s truly an honour to be in the company of the other 2015 Crowning Alumni Achievement Award recipients. I think at most this award is definitely a tribute to my family and the community of Carry The Kettle First Nation where I do come from,” says Jean-Baptiste.

The 2015 Dr. Robert and Norma Ferguson for Outstanding Service was awarded to Barry Clarke.

“Receiving this award is obviously very humbling. When I see the others receive the awards, it’s a great group to be a part of. I have a number of people that I know that have received the award who I have the highest esteem for, so it is a very significant honour to be chosen," says Clarke.
