The presidents of the University of Regina, Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, and Luther College are pleased to present the 2017-18 Forward Together lecture, (Ex)Changing Ideas for Post-Secondary Education: Will Universities Exist in 2067. This stimulating conversation will be moderated by John Hopkins, CEO of the Regina and District Chamber of Commerce.

Confederation is not simply an opportunity to reflect on Canada’s past. It is also a time to think about our collective future. With that in mind, Universities Canada, the organization that represents approximately 100 post-secondary institutions in Canada, is calling on its members to talk publicly about what our country should be like in 2067, our bicentennial year, #MyCanada2067.

“The question Universities Canada has posed for our country is something that all of us should think about in our own way,” says Dr. Vianne Timmons, President of the University of Regina. “Universities are obviously dear to the hearts of my fellow presidents and I, and we want to make sure that they remain vibrant, relevant, and accessible institutions for our communities 50 years from now. So we decided that exploring the future of universities and the path between now and 2067 would be an ideal topic for the tenth annual Forward Together lecture.”

Universities are perhaps uniquely positioned to spark debate on how the future may unfold. Join us for what is sure to be a lively discussion of what universities could look like in 2067.
