Task Force on Reading and Writing

Student competence in reading and writing is a critical issue for the Faculty of Arts and the University. It has implications for student retention and success, degree completion times, teaching strategies, marking loads, and curriculum design. In accordance with Recommendation A8 of We Who Serve, the faculty plan ratified in December 2003 by Faculty Council, this Dean’s Task Force on Reading and Writing was created.
Members of the Task Force:

Dr. Phillip Hansen (Chair), Philosophy and Classics
John Whyte, Political Science
Dr. Nils Clausson, English
Judy Chapman, First-Year Services
Dr. Lynn Wells, English
Dr. Bernard Thraves, Geography
Dr. Jo-Ann Episkenew, First-Nations University of Canada
Dr. Sandra Blenkinsop, Faculty of Education
Simone Hengen, Centre for Continuing Education
Dr. Allison Fizzard, Campion College
Stephanie Jeanes, Faculty of Arts Intern
