Abstract

The Regina Food Bank serves food insecure clients on a daily basis and an increase in demand over the past year prompted the question "Why are so many people requiring assistance at our food bank?". This research compared the cost of healthy eating to income available to food bank clients and discovered a large gap in income that results in food insecurity.

Description
The research is a collaborative community-based project with the Regina Food Bank, REACH, the Faculties of Arts and Social Work at the University of Regina. The research examined the cost of healthy eating in Saskatchewan and income available to Food Bank clients and discovered a large gap that contributes to food insecurity.
