Abstract

Constructed wetlands are man-made wetlands used to treat contaminated effluent from many different sources, including industrial waste, city sewage, and various other waste streams. The purpose of this project is to increase phosphorus removal and to decrease or completely eliminate the negative impacts of cold climates which limit operation times to the summer months only. This project discusses the treatment options for various contaminants, and different types of constructed wetlands design.
