Abstract

Was the British government right to pardon executed Canadian soldiers? This will be the topic of discussion at the latest Coffee House Controversies lecture, presented by the Faculty of Arts, on November 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Chapters bookstore behind the Southland Mall (2625 Gordon Road). Ian Germani, associate professor and head of the Department of History at the University of Regina, will discuss the 2006 decision made by the British government to offer posthumous pardons to 306 soldiers (23 of whom were soldiers of the Canadian Expeditionary Force) who had been executed for desertion or cowardice during the First World War.
