Abstract

The U of R’s Devising Inclusive Theatre class is taking its play from the campus to the community. The students are performing at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival in Regina, May 23. “I’m over the moon about it. This play is a work of art and now the public gets to see it,” says Traci Foster, director of Neither Heroes Nor Ordinary People. The play is the inspiration of the students who also cast themselves in the production. The class was offered by the Theatre Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts. The class is focussed on people living with disabilities and others who are interested in learning about inclusive practice. It offers students the opportunity to explore the idea of theatre practices in public performance.
