Abstract

In the complex world of policing, new approaches are constantly emerging and evolving. Dr. Scott H. Decker, Foundation Professor at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University, will discuss “Smart Policing” as the latest conceptualization of policing in North America when he delivers the annual Dr. Gordon Wicijowski Law Foundation of Saskatchewan Chair in Police Studies Lecture at the University of Regina. By examining the foundations of Smart Policing and its emphasis on the integration of evidence-based research into law enforcement strategies, Dr. Decker will explain how this model represents a valuable new direction in policing and crime reduction.
