Abstract

At a ceremony held earlier today in Quito, Ecuador as part of the Congress of the Americas on International Education, University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vianne Timmons was recognized for promoting women’s leadership in academia. The “Gender and Leadership in Higher Education” award, which was presented for the first time at the conference, was bestowed by The Inter-American Space for Women Leaders in Higher Education Institutions of the Americas (EMULIES). EMULIES advocates for strengthening women’s leadership and participation in decision making in the field of post-secondary education, and focuses on four key areas: research; training; co-operation and exchange; and dissemination and communication.
