Abstract

People from a wide cross section of the community are coming together to explore issues related to victims of intimate partner violence. According to Statistics Canada, intimate partner violence, including both spousal and dating violence, accounts for one in every four violent crimes reported to police. That’s why the University of Regina is taking part in a conference to look at ways of working more closely with community agencies - such as police and health care workers - to provide more support for victims of intimate partner violence. The theme of the conference is Intimate Partner Violence: Engaging Beyond the Survivor. The conference, October 22 and 23, is organized by the Saskatchewan branch of RESOLVE (Research and Education for Solutions to Violence and Abuse).
