Abstract

As Director of the MacKenzie Art Gallery from 1958 to 1966, Ronald Bloore stirred controversy at every turn. Whether inventing a fictional artist, including his own work in shows he curated, or declaring art of the Renaissance to be misguided, Bloore upset expectations and sparked debate. In the process he put Regina's fledgling art scene on the map nationally and internationally, articulating a defiantly indigenous vision of modern art.
