Abstract

This study examines Casino players' monthly club data from January 2003 to January 2008 to investigate active players' gambling behaviours. Exploratory analysis is performed to study the change in players and gambling behaviours over time, and the di erences in gambling behaviours across gender and various age groups. Multiple linear regression models are built to investigate independent responses and generalized estimating equations (GEE) method is applied to analyze the longitudinal data. The results of this study indicate that females and older players have a propensity for spending more time in Casinos. Moreover, the more the members lose, the more they are willing to continue playing. It is also found that the relationship between visiting times and playing hours is quadratic. Furthermore, there exists interaction e ects between these factors. For example, the e ect of winning or losing on playing hours depends on the player's gender and age; the e ect of visiting times on playing hours is related to the player's age, the playing year, and the money won or lost in Casino; and the e ect of gender on playing hours also depends on the player's age and the year playing. i
