5 ways you can give back in 2022

Let's make 2022 all about caring for each other. Why not start by committing to giving back to your community? Whether it's fundraising, donating, or volunteering, there are plenty of opportunities for members of our campus community to give back this year. To get you started, here's a few unique initiatives you can get involved with.
Keg-A-Rama
Rally a team together and sign-up for Keg-A-Rama, the longest-running university charity event in Canada! Taking place in March, Keg-A-Rama is put on by the Hill Business Students' Society (Hill BSS) to help raise money for the Regina Firefighters Burn Unit Fund. Throughout the day, teams of eight will get dressed up and compete in challenges, keg races, and more fun events at the Lazy Owl and around campus.

URSU Threads
Give your unused work attire a second life by donating it to URSU Threads! The University of Regina Students' Union accepts gently used professional attire donations for students preparing for job interviews, work terms, or presentations.
Laundered and bagged clothing can be dropped off in the URSU Threads bin on the main floor of the Riddell Centre. For more information, get in touch with URSU by e-mailing vpext@ursu.ca.

The Green Patch
Do you have a green thumb? Volunteering for the Green Patch is perfect opportunity to give back to the U of R community while spending time outdoors among the beautiful nature around campus.
Operated by the Regina Public Interest Research Group (RPIRG), the Green Patch is a 5,400 sq. ft. vegetable garden behind the Dr. John Archer Library. It's a source of sustainable, locally grown, organic food and a part of a campus movement for community engagement and sustainable development. RPIRG also manages the campus perennial orchard next to the Green Patch.

United Way Campaign
2021 marked the 40th anniversary of the University of Regina's United Way campaign. Donations from U of R students, faculty, and staff helped local organizations like the Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP), the Campaign for Grade Level Reading, and Mobile Crisis Services.
The United Way Campaign will be back for another year so keep an eye on your U of R inbox for creative ways you can contribute to the 2022 campaign.
5 Days for the Homeless
5 Days for the Homeless is a national fundraising effort by business students from across the country that generates awareness about homelessness and raises money for local charities in their respective communities.
The U of R's Hill Business Students' Society has been a leading fundraiser for years, even during last year's shift to a virtual event where they raised over $30,000 for Carmichael Outreach. To get involved or donate to this year's effort, visit the Hill BSS page.
