U of R vice-president receives international award

Dave Button, the University of Regina’s Vice-President (Administration), was recently honoured with a significant international award.
 
At its annual general meeting in July, the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA) presented Button with the President’s award, recognizing both his exceptional achievement in the field of facilities management and his outstanding contributions to APPA itself. 

The magnitude of this award becomes clear when you consider that APPA has been in existence for nearly 100 years, serves more than 1,500 learning institutions, and has more than 5,200 registered members in North America and beyond.

The award is well-deserved, according to University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Vianne Timmons.

“In the six years he has served the University of Regina as vice-president (Administration), Dave has done a fine job leading the Financial Services, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Resource Planning and Information Services units on our campus,” she said. “I would like to make particular note of the fact that Dave has played a key role in ensuring that in recent years the University has continued its longstanding tradition of maintaining a balanced budget - something which has helped the University remain on firm financial footing compared to many other institutions in Canada and throughout the world.”
 
Button has been very active in APPA, serving on the international board, professional affairs committee, and as president of the organization’s Rocky Mountain Region.  He is currently a member of the certified educational facility professional accreditation board, and was recently appointed as chair of a special working committee to engage Mexico as a full international member of APPA.
