Expert to share story of growing poppies on the Prairies

Glen Metzler is the president, managing director, founder and key developer for API Labs, a pharmaceutical and chemical company, whose focus is bringing commercial poppy production to Canada. Mr Metzler has a lifetime of experience in commercial agricultural production.

Born in Pincher Creek Alberta, Metzler has completed programs in agricultural business and business administration at Olds College, Lethbridge Community College, and the University of Lethbridge. Metzler has been involved with research and development across numerous industries in Canada and internationally.

Metzler will share his experiences during his presentation “Farm to Pharmaceuticals: the story of growing poppies high in thebaine on the Canadian Prairies” as part of Insight: UR Business Distinguished Speaker Series. The third in a monthly series, the event is hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration and by the Office of the Vice-President, Research.
