This summer, third year Human Justice student Morgan Brady will have the unique opportunity to study alongside world leaders in the field of post-conflict reconstruction and the administration of justice. She’ll be attending The Hague Symposium on Post-Conflict Transitions and International Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, a month long skills development workshop offered through the International Peace and Security Institute (IPSI).

According to the Institute, "through formal lectures, site visits to International Tribunals and Courts, and interactive simulations and workshops, attendees gain the skills necessary to strengthen legitimate institutions and governance to provide security, justice, and development and break cycles of violence; skills that are instrumental in ensuring long-term stability and preventing conflicts from recurring"(IPSI).

Says Brady, "the Symposium will share personal insights and knowledge from current world leaders of transitional and post-conflict justice in environments most students would never have the opportunity to see. This experience will provide me with an in-depth opportunity to study international justice and post conflict transitions all while being submerged in the heart of the “City of Justice".

Brady says she will leave the Symposium with experience that will perfectly complement her undergraduate studies in criminal and restorative justice at the U of R, and will inform her future career path as a human rights lawyer. "This opportunity will show me how to inspire and advocate for social change and help transition my goals into action".

"This is a unique learning experience as well as the once in a lifetime opportunity", says Brady.
