At 18 years-old Terry Fox was a university student. At 19 years-old he was a cancer patient. By 21 years of age, he became a Canadian hero. Terry Fox is an example of how a student can make a difference that changes the world. To date, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised more than $600 million for cancer research. To continue this legacy, The University of Regina will hold its first annual Terry’s Cause on Campus.

On Saturday, September 14, students and staff will come together to raise money for cancer research. The event will take place on the Academic Green starting at 9 am.  The event will have a non-competitive marathon, where 3 km, 5 km and 10 km options will be available. Participants are welcome to run, walk or wheel in wheelchairs.

Terry Fox events are uniquely volunteer-driven with no registration fees and no minimum pledges required, which means that anyone can join in the fun. Pre-registration is not required either. Anyone is welcome to participate as an individual or to form a team.

Not a runner? There will also be local musicians entertaining throughout the day, fun activities and raffle prizes.

Anyone who is interested in participating can contact urterryfoxrun@gmail.com. For further updates, visit University of Regina’s Terry’s Cause on Campus on Facebook and on Twitter at @urterryscause.
