International experts to speak about pain education

Six prominent international researchers will be at the University of Regina on September 28 to present on contemporary issues in pain assessment, management, and treatment. 

The speakers for Pain and Education Research Day are: Dr. Gordon Asmundson and Dr. Nick Carleton from the University of Regina; Dr. Geert Crombez from Ghent University in Belgium; Dr. Joel Katz from York University in Toronto; Dr. Mona Sawhney from the North York General Hospital in Toronto; and Dr. Johan Vlaeyen from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. 

“This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from leading experts on chronic pain management,” says Dr. Nick Carleton, one of the event organizers.

Participants in the Pain and Education Research Day will also have the opportunity to partake in a round-table discussion about the many ways in which research is being conducted on pain, from both Canadian and international standpoints.

There is no cost for students from the University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan, and SIAST. For other participants there is a registration fee of $110. A Motivational Interviewing Workshop will also be offered for an additional $30. The workshop will be presented by international expert Dr. David Hodgins on Friday, September 27 at the Language Institute Theatre at the University of Regina.
