It was an exciting week for Saskatchewan Roughrider fans and members of the University of Regina community.

Early in the week it was announced that two former Rams players received high honours. Saskatchewan Roughriders guard Brendon LaBatte was named the CFL’s most outstanding offensive lineman and University of Regina Rams offensive lineman Brett Jones was named the CFL’s most outstanding rookie.

On Saturday alumni and friends got together for the University of Regina and Alumni Association Scotch Tasting and Tapas event. A few of the highlights were special appearances by Canadian Football League legend George Reed and the Grey Cup.

On Sunday President Vianne Timmons accepted a donation of $500,000 from Sun Life Financial which will support two health-related initiatives at the University of Regina: The Lifestyle Management Program for Children with Diabetes and the Psychology Training Clinic.

Festivities were capped by a proud community celebrating the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ winning of the 101st Grey Cup.
