The conference – held in tandem with the Creative Cities Network annual both a local and national forums. The Realizing the Creative City conference aims to focus public attention on the creative potential of the arts community in the City of Regina, and to negotiate the hurdles to realizing a creative and sustainable urban environment for the benefit of all its citizens. Organizers hope to foster a collaborative environment to create a dialogue, tackling complex issues, emphasizing the quality of life within city planning.
One of the major goals of The Realizing the Creative City Conference is to re-conceptualize the role of culture in the function and planning of the city. The conference is a forum for the presentation of projects and ideas, which dissect the relationship of culture in the city. This dialogue is meant to create a shared vision and support the planning processes of the municipal, provincial and federal partners as well as the culture producers and private sector within the city.
