Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life: contributing to a healthier community
The Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport and the 2005 Canada Summer Games are both benefiting from a generous
contribution from Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life. Today, the companies announced a $150,000 contribution to
the University of Regina's Building Dreams and Futures fundraising campaign.
"We're proud to be able to facilitate this unique link between the University and the community through the
development of the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport," said Jan Belanger, Assistant Vice-President, Community
Affairs, for Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life. "Our support is helping to create a much needed health,
research, recreation, and athletic facility and is ultimately leaving a legacy for years to come."
The companies are donating $100,000 to the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport and a sponsorship of $50,000 in cash
and services to the 2005 Canada Summer Games, being held in Regina from August 6-20.
"I am pleased to thank Great-West, London Life and Canada Life for their generous support of the Centre for
Kinesiology, Health and Sport," said University of Regina President David Barnard. "Partnerships like this one
help us provide students, faculty and the community with an outstanding facility that is second to none."
The Building Dreams and Futures campaign is raising funds for five priority areas of the University of Regina: student
support, research support, the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport, the 2005 Canada Summer Games and emerging
priorities. The campaign is raising $10 million toward the Games.
"We are proud to partner with Great-West, London Life and Canada Life," said Garry Huntington, Building Dreams
and Futures campaign chair. "In making this contribution, the corporation continues to show great leadership in our
community. They are an example to other businesses to become involved in the campaign."
"Literally thousands of volunteers and sponsors are coming together to make the Games a success," said 2005
Canada Summer Games President Bob Ellard. "It takes a united and dedicated community to host this event. Today's
commitment will help us create an unforgettable Games experience for the more than 4,500 athletes and 12,000 visitors who
will participate."
