Chase appointed dean of the Faculty of Arts
Thomas Chase has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Regina. Chase replaces Robin Fisher, who
has served as dean since 2002.
Chase has served as the associate dean of arts (research and graduate) for the past two years. In that role, he was
responsible for supporting the research agenda in the faculty through development of new strategies and protocols aimed at
increasing success with federal granting agencies; the promotion of faculty and student research success to the community
at large; the development of other initiatives that have given Arts research a public dimension; and the successful
nomination of the University's first member of the Royal Society of Canada.
Chase has been at the University of Regina since 1984. He has served as a faculty member in the Department of English and
was instrumental in the design, creation, and support of the Centre for Academic Technologies, of which he was founding
director. A graduate of the University of Regina, he holds a doctorate from Glasgow University (Scotland) and a licentiate
diploma from Trinity College, London. In 2004, he was awarded an honorary fellowship by the Royal Canadian College of
Organists.
