U of R appoints new vice-president
The University of Regina’s board of governors has approved the appointment of David Button as vice-president (administration) effective July 1, 2006.

Button has served the University for the past 11 years and is well known in the community. In his current position as associate vice-president (facilities and planning), Button and his unit have received international recognition for the planning and execution of the recent building boom on campus, at the same time delivering substantial energy savings for the University.

“Dave has built a strong team in Physical Plant. He is admired by his colleagues and our students for the numerous University courses that he teaches, he has an extensive network of contacts in government and in the community, and he is a strong promoter of the University,” says University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Robert Hawkins. “Dave will make an outstanding vice-president, and I am looking forward to working with him.”

Button will succeed Kathryn Laurin who will be leaving her position to assume her new duties as president of Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
