Musical Theatre for a New Millennium, an intensive summer credit program designed to help students to adapt and grow as
performers, will be held Aug. 7 to 19 at the University of Regina. Using a themed approach, students from high school to
the graduate level will take part in two weeks of dance, singing, acting, writing and production that culminates in a
performance and earns them nine credit hours of University study.
Instructors include U of R theatre professors Kelly Handerek and Shaun Phillips, as well as Grant Wenaus, originally from
Regina, who is a pianist, conductor and vocal coach at New York University, and former music director for the University of
Michigan Musical Theatre Program.
“Each of the three instructors has a national and international profile in their respective fields and brings the
zest of creation and interpretation to this unique offering,” says Handerek. “Grant Wenaus and Shaun Phillips
are arguably two of the most creative artists with whom I have collaborated. To have all three instructors in the room as
we integrate the individual and group work will give participants a dynamic experience of expression and
creation.”
