U of R Graduate Students’ Association leads by giving
The University of Regina Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) is making a $50,000 donation to the University of Regina’s Building Dreams and Futures campaign. The GSA gift funds four scholarships supporting continued expansion of the U of R graduate studies program and marks the first graduate student gift to the University.

“The Graduate Students’ Association is taking a leadership role in the development of our University,” said Greg Kratzig, president of the GSA. “Establishing these scholarships is an important contribution to the continued advancement of graduate studies at the University of Regina.”

The four annual scholarships will be presented starting in 2006 and include two awards of $750 in support of part-time students and two awards of $1,250 in support of full-time students. One of the full-time scholarships will be awarded to a domestic student and the other will be awarded to an international student.

“With this gift, our graduate students provide a fine example of how one generation of students can help the next,” said University President and Vice-Chancellor Robert Hawkins. “Through this generous act of sharing, graduate work, which is a priority for our University, will be strengthened.”

“This is an example of the forward thinking and planning for the future that typifies our graduate students,” said Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Rod Kelln. “The students have recognized the diversity of the graduate student body and ensured that the funding opportunities reflect this diversity.”

The submission deadline for the new scholarships is October 15 and applications are available at: www.uregina.ca/gradstudies/forms.
