Think about where the food you eat and the products you buy came from. Were they locally produced? If not, how could you find local, healthy and sustainable alternatives - produced here in Saskatchewan - for your household?
The Institut français, in partnership with the Assemblée communautaire fransaskoise (ACF), invites you to participate in the Terroir, Identity & Seduction Symposium, which will be held Feb. 20 to 22 at the Saskatoon Inn in Saskatoon.
"The first conference of its kind in Saskatchewan, the Terroir Symposium was created so that governments, researchers, entrepreneurs, farmers and consumers could meet and discuss the many advantages of taking rural development in a different direction," explains Institut français Director Dominique Sarny.
Participants will be able to take part in a number of workshops hosted by experts from across Canada on topics such as natural gardening, food and culture, rural development in Saskatchewan, organic meats, agro-tourism, "economuseums" and so much more. Special guests from France (Alain Lesoin, regional director of Agriculture and Rural Development, Midi-Pyrénées) and Louisiana (Cajun musician Zachary Richard) will also be in attendance.
Other program highlights include:
Registration fees:
$100 for members of a Francophone community organization
$150 for non-members (institutional participants)
$50 for the Gala Banquet and show
$20 for the show only
All are welcome! Simultaneous interpretation from French to English, and vice versa, will be available. For more information or to register, please visit http://www.terroirsk.ca/ or call the ACF toll-free at 1.800-991-1912.
