Conference at U of R brings student research to the larger community
What are some of the best ways to improve your memory? How can yoga help you recover from depression? Ecovillages may save the planet, but who wants to live in them? Why has Woodrow Lloyd been largely forgotten? And how important is communications in team sports?

You can learn the answers to these questions - and countless others - at the fourth annual University of Regina Graduate and Undergraduate Research Conference, which takes place at the University of Regina on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4.

During the course of the two-day conference, approximately 100 graduate and senior undergraduate students will share their research with the academic community as well as with members of the public.  The conference will include oral presentations in the Education Building on both Friday and Saturday, as well as poster presentations in the Riddell Centre multi-purpose room on Friday afternoon.

"Each year, the student research conference provides a tremendous opportunity for U of R students," says Merlyn Richelhoff, President of the U of R Graduate Students' Association.  "For students to develop in their academic careers, it's crucial for them to be able to present their work to their peers as well as to people from outside the University community."

The conference features two keynote speakers, Dr. Jorge Cham and Jay Ingram.  Cham, the creator of Piled Higher and Deeper, a comic strip about life in graduate school, will speak on "The Power of Procrastination" on Friday, April 3, at 4:00 p.m. in room 191 of the Education Building. Ingram, co-host of the Discovery Channel's TV show Daily Planet, will speak on Saturday, April 4, at 4:00 p.m. in the Education Auditorium.

Admission to the Conference, including Cham and Ingram's keynote addresses, is free.  Free parking is available in Lot 15.
