University of Regina Aboriginal Student Centre celebrates National Aboriginal Day

The University of Regina Aboriginal Student Centre's 2nd Annual National Aboriginal Day celebration will be held Friday, June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the Dr. Lloyd Barber Academic Green at the University of Regina main campus.

Each year the Government of Canada designates June 21 as National Aboriginal Day. Aboriginal peoples and organizations across Canada come together on this day to celebrate Aboriginal cultures, beliefs, and accomplishments.

Members of the public as well as members of the University community are welcome to attend this year's festivities. The event includes a showcase featuring the Ochapowace First Nation Kakisiwew School, Tipi raising demonstrations with Aboriginal Student Centre Cultural and Traditional Advisor, Glen Anaquod, First Nations language circles, Dene hand games, paddle carving, a trade fair, and a free lunch for attendees.

In order to receive a free lunch, attendees must have a lunch ticket. To receive a free ticket, contact Aboriginal Student Centre staff at (306) 337-3153 or pick up a ticket at the College West Building, room 117 at the University of Regina, or the First Nations University of Canada Information Kiosk.
