Hill-Ivey Scholarship Recipients Announced

Six University of Regina Business Administration students will participate in an elite partnership program with one of Canada's leading business schools. Paul J. Hill School of Business students Jordan Brears, David Carnegie, Kayla Kozan, Christiania Peterson, Sonja Soubolsky and Adam Tulloch are the recipients of the 2011 Hill-Ivey Scholarships, which are intended to provide the opportunity for students to get an exceptional education at the Paul J. Hill School of Business in their first two years of university and receive $40,000 to spend their third and fourth years at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

A $10 million gift from local businessman Paul Hill led to the naming of the Paul J. Hill School of Business in November of 2007.  In addition to establishing the school’s new identity, Hill’s investment also created the unique $2.5 million relationship with the Richard Ivey School of Business where students will focus on the “business case study” approach to education for which Ivey has become internationally recognized.

“The University of Regina congratulates our Hill-Ivey scholarship winners,” says Vice-President (Academic), Dr. Gary Boire. “The six students awarded today will receive the highest quality education in Canada – one that will prepare them to be strong and influential business leaders. They will graduate with Honours Business Administration (HBA) degrees.

The Hill-Ivey scholarships will result in 30 students receiving $40,000 each to support their business education. The first set of scholarship winners was announced last September.

In addition, the Paul J. Hill School of Business also announced today 10 recipients of the Hill Scholarship in Business Ethics. Natasha Berriault, Anne Bjorge, Whitney Blaisdell, Alex Collins, Jessica Hiebert, Brandy Kindred, Laurel McCallum, Aubrey Olarie, Roxanne Olynyk, and Larissa Richards will each receive a $2,500 scholarship to study ethical business practices at the Paul J. Hill School of Business.

In addition to scholarships, $200,000 of Mr. Hill’s gift created doctoral awards to support doctoral candidates through the Ivey Business School. The remaining funds are allotted to support visiting professors at both the Ivey and Hill schools of business.
