University of Regina President unveils plans for Alumni Homecoming 2011 celebration

University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Vianne Timmons today outlined plans for Alumni Homecoming 2011, an opportunity for alumni to catch up during the Centennial anniversary and look forward to the next 100 years at the University. Alumni Homecoming 2011 will take place from September 29 to October 1.

"We have come such a long way since 1911, when Regina College began with only 27 students," Timmons said. "One hundred years later, the University of Regina is home to more than 12,000 students from all over the world. We have much to be proud of, and I'm delighted that so many of our alumni will be coming together to honour the past, celebrate the present and plan for the future."

Activities, during the three-day event include an opening reception on September 29th, a Bar-B-Q and Rams football game on the 30th, and a banquet on October 1st. There are currently more than 50 events scheduled in total.

"I can't think of a better way to welcome alumni back than a Homecoming celebration," said University of Regina Alumni Association President-Elect Richard Kies. "The Alumni Association welcomes any of our 58,000 alumni from around the world to come back to visit their University this fall."

"I would like to invite all alumni back to the University of Regina to see how much we've grown," said University of Regina Students' Union President Kent Peterson. "Our University is a global, cultured, and inviting community. Alumni Homecoming 2011 is the ideal time to showcase our successes.
